The purpose of this study is to determine the role of government in empowering farmer groups in Lubuklinggau Timur II District, Lubuklinggau City. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using a descriptive approach through observation, interviews and documentation.The type of data source used is primary data obtained from the results of observation and interviews, as well as secondary data obtained from documentation. The results of this study can be concluded that the local government through the Agriculture Service carries out farmer group empowerment by providing seed assistance, and also equipment assistance for farmers in Cereme Taba Village. The program is running well, only the role of government in empowering farmer groups has not been maximized. The role of government as the main agency in the country has a very important role for ongoing development process, both human resource development and other infrastructure where the government is required to be able to become a state organizer in realizing development and progress and becoming a driver of achieving community welfare.
