Abstract

Desa Gebang, located in Kecamatan Bangkalan Gebang Village is a village in Bangkalan District, is known for its potential in fishery products. Traditional open-air drying methods have been used for preservation, resulting in suboptimal production. To address these issues, the Strategic Community Service 1000 Villages program by Universitas Brawijaya targeted Desa Gebang as a focus area. The program's objectives include supporting the community of Desa Gebang to diversify marine product processing, increase their knowledge and skills in marine product processing, and implement closed-system drying technology. The approach includes observation, discussion, interviews, educational sessions on production quality, training, and support in the application of closed-system drying technology, and diversification of marine product varieties. The program was carried out in July 2023, involving 24 members of the Fish Drying Group of Desa Gebang. The group members were enthusiastic and actively participated in discussions. The Strategic Community Service team developed a closed-system drying apparatus and conducted standard operational training for its use, which was then practiced by the fish drying group. The program received positive responses from the participants, who felt satisfied and assisted, and the production process became more effective and efficient. The Strategic Community Service program met the predetermined criteria for success in increasing the value of fishery products.
